Photo Essay Tuesday (Rockies! Rockies! Rockies! Edition)

Staying the course (squeezing out as much Colorado as possible in the next month) Part of my crazy weekend included quite a few Rockies games. With Katie! And Kassie! And Daver oh my! Speaking of Daver, my friends have a long standing joke about Katie and her little brothers. Once upon a time, many moons age I may or may not have made out with both Kate and her (older) younger brother. At the time Daver was probably 13 or 14 and the joke became if I could only make out with Daver one day, I could pick up the hat trick. Sadly, five years later Daver is 19 years old and the joke hasn't died. Daver got this matching "tattoo" to show me his love. I still wouldn't make out with him. Next, my mom and I spent all of Saturday together before meeting my Dad for another Rockies game. Cute family picture! Mmm, foot long! "Liberty" dots. Oh, America.

The Casualties Of Summer

I had a wild weekend, and I've got lots to share. Right now, however, I can only think on one thing. My remarkable sunburn. Thank goodness for Aloe Vera. I've been slathering it on all day. Last week Sarah and I met at GCB for a beer and she invited me to join her at the pool on Sunday. Tonight I'm joining her again to watch a little baseball, my third game this week. Hopefully we'll have seats in the shade.

Katie's Birthday Revisited

Friday night Kate, Jill, Mak and I met four other friends at the Rockies game to celebrate Kate's birthday. Unfortunately, Katie wasn't feeling well, so while she enjoyed the game and a cautious beer, we all got rip-roaring drunk. We actually had great seats and it was a beautiful night for a game. Not to mention we were playing the Mets who generally draw a pretty big crowd. I was sporting the biggest hair ever. I mean we're talking Texas-Big-Bar hair here. I do believe Mak is mocking me with that wink... Seriously, look at these great seats! For some reason Jill and I decided to throw down with several spirited rounds of knocker boxing. She started it. Kate, the birthday girl, drives us all home at the end of the night, and we, well, apparently we're just about as cliche as they come. OK, one last thing. Now everyone drinks a little and gets a little bit out out of control sometimes, but during the Friday night postmortem with Katie on Monday, she informed me that as far as shenanigans go, Jill and I had nothing on our girlfriend J. J and her boyfriend were riding the bus back to Boulder after we called it a night. Our girlfriend J started feeling sick on the bus and she threw up. BUT, she didn't want to get sick on the bus, so she just puffed out her cheeks and held it in her mouth as long as she could. Finally, she couldn't take it anymore, and it was leaking out the sides of her mouth so she...swallowed it. I know, it's about the grossest thing I've ever heard. It actually made me a little sick just now to write it out. She's a totally normal gal too, not a dirt bag or anything. Or so I thought...

Go Rockies!

You know, the Colorado whatever-they're-called. Going to the World Series. How in the hell did that happen? We don't know either. But I think it's funny that TBS didn't make a commercial about the Rockies until after they won the NLCS. But it was funny that the whole time we were sweeping Arizona we had to watch stupid Dane Cook extol the virtues of the D-backs.

World Series

First team since expansion to sweep both the division and the league championship! Second team ever (1976 Big Red Machine) to do so! The look on Todd Helton's face as he made that last play... MVP...MVP...MVP... Go Holliday! Seriously, the Rockies going to the World Series? Awesome!

Colorado Rockies

Why do all the announcers hate on the Rockies? And why do they have to go into extra innings at midnight? I have a tee time tomorrow morning! And shut up about the damned black jerseys!

Go Rockies! (Game 2)

So quick post since i don't really have too much to say. First of all, I have a meeting at 2 today which means I will miss at least the first half of the Rockies game. The great thing about baseball is that I can study (I have an exam next week) while I watch, productive hey? First off, yay Hung! TC3 winner. Last night I had a great night. I made dinner, cleaned my room (tonight I'll tackle the rest of the apartment) and watched some TV. I have been looking forward to a new show on ABC called Pushing Daisies, and I was really pleasantly surprised. It was really cute, funny, and I really liked the cinematography. It was very fanciful, and like a children's story. I loved the vibe, and the show was a lot more clever than it could have been. I look forward to more, I hope it doesn't get canceled. Forgive me, but I don't hate Private Practice. The practice itself is kind of cheesy, but I like the characters. I am, of course looking forward to more Grey's tonight. I'm not a good critic, I love the show so much that they can really do no wrong. I take that back, do you remember last seasons afterlife experience episode. Gag me. And to be perfectly honest I'm a little over Merideth, like she's the only person to ever have an absent father, give me a break. The other characters, however, keep me coming back for more. I can't wait to see what happens with Alex. And Christina, and the Doctors McSteamy and McDreamy. I do love a good man-crush.

Rockies vs. Phillies (and the Rain Delay)

We parked under Rock Bottom, and then waked up to the Downtown Tavern where we headed up to the patio to enjoy an ice cold Bud Light while waiting for the game to start. Despite my best efforts (and $30 a ticket) we did not have seats in the shade for this ballgame. Around the sixth inning we went to get hot dogs, and when we came back, the stands had cleared out due to pouring rain. The weather went crazy, and even the players helped the grounds crew secure the tarp. Maybe you saw it on the highlights? Later the sun came back out, hot just as hot as before, and then the Rockies lost.

Who Want's to go to a Baseball Game With Me?

No Really, Here's the schedule for the next two weeks Tampa Bay at Colorado 6/15 7:05 pm 6/16 6:05 pm 6/17 1:05 pm NYY at Colorado 6/19 7:05 pm 6/20 7:05 pm 6/21 1:05 pm I was thinking we should have a Saturday Fun Day this weekend, maybe the 6:05 game would be fun, and I definitely want to go to at least one of those Yankee games. And Jill, don't sweat it, we'll get Rock Pile tickets for five bucks so if we want to we can leave after a few innings. Also, the Washington Nationals are coming in August if you want to go see a game we might actually win.
