Sunshine!

Despite our antics, we came out of the weekend with a few really pretty pictures. Mak and Shelly are just the cutest brother and sister. Just as we were waking up Saturday morning and contemplating coffee Mak showed up with a bunch of lift chairs. Why? Because he's Mak. Shelly got a lot of action in that shirt, and despite the terrible service we had a lovely time sipping mojitos in the sunshine. Seriously? I have some hot friends. Even though I'm clearly sporting the drunk face, I like this picture of Kate and me. Jill striking a pose in Shelly's sunnies. We all tried them on and had ourselves a photo shoot. Jill doesn't really love it, but I think this picture of Katie is great. Maybe I just like the quality of the light and shadows in her hair.

Living A Bit Above Our Tax Bracket For The Weekend

Friday night Jill, Shelly and I piled in the car ( Murph too!) and headed up to a little town called Aspen. It was the weekend of the Food and Wine Classic and we were planning on hanging out in town, hitting the pool at The Sky Hotel, and volunteering to set up and tear down tables at a charity event at the Belly Up in exchange for tickets. All that would have made for a great weekend in itself, but then Katie went and did us one better. While she and Jill went to set up tables for the charity event... Mak and Jill went to Snowmass to see Mick Fleetwood and have a little faux-date... They snapped some photos... And shared a bottle of wine... Shelly and I went to the Saturday afternoon tasting! It was pretty much the coolest thing ever. We had wine, small tastes of food, enjoyed the A-MAZ-ING weather and unbelievable people watching. I swear I almost peed my pants when we saw Wiley Dufresne (then again sitting next to us at the worst breakfast ever the next day, shame on you Little Nell...), and Shelly practically jumped up and down screaming when we saw Hung. We met up with Jill and Kate and ended up at the concert later that night (a super fun Stones cover band), it was quite the debauched evening... Which ended with us at the Hotel Jerome acting like kids at four in the morning (the room was comped, we never, and I mean never, could have afforded a room at the Jerome on Food and Wine weekend) Capped the weekend off on Sunday with a very posh pool party, and then, when we finally made it back to the house Sunday night... The charming Mak had a gorgeous Thai dinner waiting for us.

Festivities

New Year's Eve is a little bit of a blur. We had a great big group of people for a nice dinner in Basalt. We had loads of appetizers and cocktails were flowing, it was 10:30 by the time dinner was over so we scrapped plans to head into Aspen and threw an impromptu party at Mak and Kate's place. Once we got back it was sort of a choose-your own-adventure kind of evening. There was a lot of coat-dancing in the living room. It was kind of the Mak and Drea show for a while. Huh, Shocking. And the world's cheesiest photo shoot in the kitchen. I must have been channeling Britney because my altogether was on display all night. Control top pantyhose... not so hot.

The Last Days of 2007

Jill and I decided to take advantage of the long weekend and head up to Basalt for a few days. On Sunday when everyone was skiing, Kate and I went into Aspen to window shop, watch the Bronco game and gawk at the crazy rich people. Jill looks rosy cheeked after a day of hitting the slopes. Worst. Picture. Of. Me. Ever. You don't have to ski to enjoy a few Après-ski cocktails. Or a lot of cocktails. Oh, drunken MySpace stalking. Does it count as stalking if the person is in the next room? Speak of the devil. I am sorry to say that this thing with The Boy looks like a non starter. I guess I thought something, anything, would happen this weekend, but it never did. I guess I just need to accept the reality that he really isn't that interested in me. Not a fun thing to admit to oneself actually. Too bad, because he sure is cute. Kat and I probably took six pictures of what I think we're now calling our signature poses. Mr. Whiskerson Snuggle Buddies Looking guilty because they got caught snuggling. These troopers made dinner for the lot (16 people) while the rest of us drank beer and watched the CU game. A few lovely ladies. More lovely ladies. Two girls one cup. We couldn't watch it again, but we could watch Noah watch it for the first time. And we could laugh.
