Professor Snootarium's Crazy Vocabularium!!!

This weekend I've been having a marathon cram session, trying to finish up all of this semesters work. Lucky for me Josh was busy working too and we spent the day intermittently working and entertaining each other via email. What started as a lighthearted challenge- who has a better mastery of the English language, a bigger vocabulary- over the course of the day turned into a full blown idea for a child's board game targeted at the snooty intelligentsia. Which turned into maybe the coolest thing ever; eleven hours after we started our conversation yesterday morning Josh sent me an email. A prototype if you will, so awesome it left me speechless. You have to check this out, if you guys don't already read Berg With Fries, today would be a great day to start.

Braving the Day-After-Christmas Sales

Usually we would never dream of hitting a mall the day after Christmas, but I have to get back to Golden, so exchanges had to be done today. Fortunately for us, the new mall in the area is an outside mall, and the shops weren't very busy, so it was a really pleasant day. I really only had one sweater to return it was very cute (my mom has great taste) but something about the proportion, I think the length, was very unflattering. I was also in the market for a dress to wear on New Year's so we did a little shopping. These two cute little sweaters (From New York & Company) were a gift from my mom, they are two items I'd never pick out for myself, but they look great on me. Go mom. Into J. Jill to exchange the sweater that looked weird for these two tops (both on sale). We popped into Banana Republic, and that's where the real shopping got going. If you are in need of a party dress they have a bunch on sale right now. I tried most of them on, and this is the one I decided to buy. It looks completely different on me than it does on the model here. I was also trying on sale rack sweaters and needed a pair of jeans to try them on with. I just grabbed these guys because they were closest to the fitting rooms and they fit so well I had to take them. They are cute. Super cute. My two favorite buys of the day weren't available on line, but were also from Banana. I'm sure I'll wear them soon so I can post pictures. One is just a really cute little short sleeved sweater. The second is a dress I tried on in my search for a cute party dress. It was too classic for a New Year's Eve party, but it fit so well, that my mom *insisted* on buying it for me. I imagine it will become my new go-to outfit very soon.

Materialistic

I am on an unbelievably tight budget this season. I take home $1300 am month after taxes, and my rent and utilities comes out to about $800 a month. That leaves $500 for gas, groceries, cocktails, movies, dinners out with girls, shopping, books, and anything else I can think of to waste my money on. Unfortunately, applying to law school is a very expensive business. And I think I'm going to end up applying to about 7 schools. (Hopefully one of them will welcome me with open arms. And financial aid.) When all is said and done I think that will run me about $700. Hopefully not more. That's my money-I'll-never-see-again budget. I'm trying to spread it out over a few months, so I can afford thing like... I don't know... what is it now November?... Oh right, Christmas presents. I have been thinking about it all year, when I think of something my mom or dad would like I write it down on a list I keep on the fridge, that way I'm not scrambling for a gift idea at the last minute and drawing a blank. This has turned into a pretty long tangent, my original point is that when I do buy something that is a non-necessity, I put a lot of thought into it. When shoe shopping I never buy on a first date. I go home and if, a week later (or maybe two) I'm still lusting after a particularly hot pair then I go buy them. It takes a while to get into my proverbial pants. When shopping for clothes, I just don't. I haven't spent a dime on clothing in almost five months. And then it was out of necessity, I couldn't zip up any of my pants, and I needed one pair of jeans that fit without greasing up my thighs to slide them on. I don't need any clothes right now, I wear the same thing to work everyday (so I don't ruin anything new), and I don't desire any clothes right now because I haven't been inside a shop for months. There are some things I do have my eye on right now. I don't wear it often, but I absolutely love make-up. I won't be in need of any for a little while, but when I am, I have been compiling this little wish list. I'm thinking I might go shopping to ring in the new year. I actually have this little vanity problem, and maybe a little modesty problem, because although I don't consider myself a great beauty, I do consider my eyelashes pretty amazing. Ever since my girlfriend Sameera told me about it, I have been lusting after Dior's Diorshow Mascara. I love blush. I love love love cream blush, I always, and unabashedly wear too much. I've been wearing Sweet William Blushcreme from MAC, but I'm almost out and I think I've decided to try NARS Creme Blush in Lokoum or Cactus Flower. Ooh, Stila Smudge Pots gel eyeliner/eyeshadow in Jet Black. I love gel eyeliner, that liquid look, but with some serious staying power. Benefit, BADgal Blue. This is the kind of purchase I almost always regret, the kind of thing that couldn't possibly live up to the hype, but i already know that sooner or later I'll splurge anyway. Time Balm, best concealer ever, 'nuff said. Origins A Perfect World for eyes, perfect eye cream if you are looking for one. The only kind of lipstick I like to wear is MAC Lipstick. I love their Lustre finishes, almost every color looks great because they are a little sheer. MAC Eyeshadow in Shroom. Say what you will, but I've never found a cheaper brand that covers and blends as well, not to mention lasts.

Uh-Oh... Cheetos

I sure do wish I'd never tried these new Cheetos. The dude I share an office with (the mumbler) told me about them, and said they were baked, and therefore lower in fat. Well, I bought a bag, tried them out, and holy crap are they good... but not baked. Natural, i.e. no preservatives, colorings, additives, etc., but not baked, and definitely not lower in fat. Shucks.

Miracle

This stuff is amazing. I have a reoccurring zit next to my nose. I've had it for like ten years. It comes back every three months or so. This time it was huge. Larger than my earrings. Like a pus filled balloon. Enormous. It is resilient, whatever I do, I can't get rid of it. I have even resorted to digging it out with a paring knife on more than one occasion. This dried it up over night. Hooray. Miracle.
